About
The letterforms originate from a lithographic poster Magritte designed for the Second Film and Fine Arts World Festival of Belgium held at Knokke-le-Zoute, now held in the Magritte Museum in Brussels. Each glyph is built from a minimal set of components, pairing mechanically rounded curves with hard right angles to create strong counter forms and a distinctive silhouette. The family is split into two subfamilies named after Belgian coastal towns, Ostende being the base weight and Knokke a variant offering a different weight register.
