A Schulfraktur revival by José Manuel López Rocha, drawn from a 19th-century German school book source and expanded with ornaments, initials and open-face variants.

About

Named after the book in which López Rocha first encountered the original Schulfraktur, Gorgias comes in four styles: Regular and Black in both solid and open (Deco) forms. Each font includes 1,444 characters, covering old and new fraktur style sets, historical and old German ligatures, smart framed drop caps, ornate borders and book ornaments. An early version was awarded at the Tipos Latinos 8th Biennale in 2014.

Classification

Gorgias is explicitly a Schulfraktur revival, a specific blackletter style used in 19th-century German school books, with all four variants maintaining fraktur construction and ornamental tradition.
