Designed by Alejandro Lo Celso and first released in 2010, Perec carries a lighter, more refined character than a conventional grotesque, making it well suited to large-scale editorial work where elegance matters whilst retaining legibility at small sizes through open counters. The family runs to twelve styles across six weights with matching italics and small caps, and the PE edition extends coverage to full Cyrillic including Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian and Ukrainian, plus polytonic Greek. Cyrillics were drawn by Onur Yazıcıgil and Lo Celso, and the family sits within a broader superfamily alongside the playful Perec Ludique and the script-based Perec Scripte.

Pampatype describes Perec as a sanserif grotesque with romans and italics; its delicate spirit and open counters place it firmly in the humanist-inflected grotesque tradition rather than a strict geometric or neo-grotesque model.
