Acma specimen from Pangram Pangram Foundry

A high-contrast narrow sans with deep stroke variation and wide alternate characters, designed by Francesca Bolognini and Mat Desjardins for display and editorial use.

About

Acma draws on Japanese modernist aesthetics and the fashion world, with its distinctive double-storey lowercase 'a' setting the tone for the family's tension between precision and fluidity. Ten weights from Thin to Black run with matching italics and a variable axis, while OpenType features include a second set of wide uppercase letters and alternate lowercase forms that allow unexpected compositional moments. Originally conceived for editorial headlines, the foundry positions it as usable from 12pt upwards.

Classification

A narrow, highly contrasted sans-serif with pronounced stroke variation and expressive alternates, positioned by the foundry as display-first and categorised alongside humanist and expressive sans traditions.
