Air
Pangram Pangram Foundry · Mat Desjardins, Caio Kondo · 2023

A grotesque sans in 36 styles originally designed by Mat Desjardins and expanded by Caio Kondo, spanning proportional and monospaced cuts with variable axes for weight, italic and mono.
About
Originally designed by Mat Desjardins and expanded by Caio Kondo of Inari Type, Air spans two subfamilies — proportional and monospaced — each offering nine upright weights from Thin to Black with matching italics and a variable font that unites all axes in a single file. The design takes visual cues from brutalism, minimalism and aerospace detailing, with a large character set of 656 glyphs including alternate characters, punctuation and arrows. Both cuts share the same weight range, making the family well-suited to mixed-setting work where editorial and code or tabular contexts need to coexist.
Classification
Pangram Pangram classify it as Grotesk and Sans Serif; the design draws on brutalist and minimalist influences with aerospace-inspired geometry, sitting firmly in the grotesque sans tradition.
