Eiko specimen from Pangram Pangram Foundry

A high-contrast serif by Caio Kondo that draws on Japanese Mincho forms and is named in honour of art director Eiko Ishioka, with Latin and kana coverage across 16 styles.

About

Designed by Caio Kondo, it pairs sharp hairline strokes with strong verticals drawn from Mincho tradition, while the Latin forms sit comfortably in editorial and luxury branding contexts. The family covers hiragana, katakana and 81 educational kanji, making it one of the few commercial serifs designed to pair with existing kanji fonts rather than replace them. Features include vertical writing support, old-style figures, stylistic alternates, ligatures and a full italic suite added in version 2.00.

Classification

A high-contrast serif with Mincho-influenced structure, combining sharp hairline strokes with strong verticals in a manner consistent with Japanese Mincho traditions filtered through a contemporary editorial lens.
