A four-family type system drawing on 19th-century lettering and signs, pairing a grotesque sans, a high-contrast serif, a mid-serif called Glare and a text cut across 64 styles plus variable cuts.

About

Designed by Francesca Bolognini and Mat Desjardins, Fragment ties four distinct but complementary subfamilies into a single collection: a strong sans, a high-contrast serif, an intermediate mid-serif named Glare, and a text-optimised cut. Each family runs to 18 styles with italics and a variable axis, and every weight ships 581 glyphs with alternates. The vintage lettering reference gives the system a consistent historical character that prevents the four voices from feeling arbitrary.

Classification

Fragment spans four distinct subfamilies including a high-contrast serif, a mid-serif called Glare, a grotesque sans and a text cut, all rooted in 19th-century lettering traditions. The display-oriented orientation and vintage lettering revival make 'display' the most accurate primary category, though it functions across multiple genre boundaries.
