Hatton specimen from Pangram Pangram Foundry

A humanist serif drawn from the weathered signage and shopfronts of London's Hatton Garden jewellery quarter, available in nine weights with true italics and variable font support.

About

Designed by Mat Desjardins in collaboration with London studio Two Times Elliott and later extended by type designer Morgane Vantorre, Hatton takes its forms from the hand-painted signs and ornate facades of Clerkenwell and Hatton Garden. The family spans nine weights from Thin to Black, each with a matching italic, and includes a variable cut alongside a rich set of OpenType features: vintage alternates, discretionary ligatures, old-style figures and a diamond-shaped eight. Its proportions and adjusted contrast suit branding, packaging and editorial work where a sense of craft and quiet opulence is required.

Classification

Pangram Pangram classify Hatton explicitly as a humanist serif; its forms are drawn from the hand-painted signage and ornate shopfronts of London's Hatton Garden, lending organic warmth and refined imperfection to the letterforms.
