Keyframe specimen from Plain Form

A monumental display typeface by Lucas Descroix, built on heavy linear stems broken by deliberate omissions and unexpected extensions that give words an abstract, almost eroded quality.

About

Designed by Lucas Descroix and released in 2023, Keyframe draws on an aesthetic of reinforced concrete and industrial construction, with solid upright stems interrupted by missing parts that create tension between weight and fragility. Five styles run from Thin to Heavy, each sharing the same architectural logic while shifting the balance between hardness and openness. OpenType features include alternate closed lowercase forms, dotted variants and borders and patterns, extending its range into decorative and expressive applications.

Classification

Keyframe's monumental, heavily constructed stems and deliberate structural omissions place it firmly in the display category. Its architectural character, with linear strokes evoking reinforced concrete, does not align with any standard text serif or sans-serif subcategory.
