Ana Banana
Plau · Júlia Lago · 2021

A variable Latin sans by Júlia Lago with deep inktraps, bell-shaped terminals and smiling counters, spanning nine weights from Hairline to Black.
About
Developed in 2021 at Studio Motora and released through Plau, Ana Banana carries a distinctly cheerful character through its bell-shaped stroke endings and open, upward-curving counters, without sacrificing text-setting utility. Its slightly condensed proportions make the lighter weights well-suited to running copy, while the Black is expressive enough for poster and identity work. The family won a Platinum at the 2022 CLAP Awards for best type design for text and was shortlisted at Tipos Latinos.
Classification
A slightly condensed Latin sans-serif with humanist warmth expressed through bell-shaped stroke terminals, deep inktraps and 'smiling' counters, functional across text and display use.
