Firula specimen from Plau

A variable connected brush script in seven weights, designed by Rodrigo Saiani for Plau, with cursive capitals, swashes and contextual ligatures intended for logos, posters and event materials.

About

Built as a fully variable font with seven named stops from Light to Black, Firula simulates the rhythm of a brush-drawn hand through connected letterforms and a suite of OpenType features including contextual alternates, swashes, St ligatures and an alternate final t. Lighter weights carry enough legibility for short phrases; heavier cuts suit single words and display headlines where the cursive capitals and swashes come into their own. Glyph coverage spans Latin Extended with fractions, super- and subscripts, and case-sensitive forms.

Classification

Firula is a variable connected script typeface with brush-drawn letterforms, swashes, cursive capitals and contextual ligatures, placing it firmly in the connected script category with a calligraphic brush influence.
