Guanabara
Plau · Rodrigo Saiani

A Rio de Janeiro-inspired humanist sans by Rodrigo Saiani, originally conceived as a wayfinding typeface, grown into a full working family spanning eight weights with a companion display subfamily.
About
Designed around the curves and character of Rio de Janeiro, Guanabara runs from Thin to Black across both static and variable font formats, with true italics throughout the Sans subfamily. Distinctive details include a tapered R leg, calligraphic terminal endings and stylistic alternates for /a, /g and /r, complemented by small caps, oldstyle figures and tabular numerals. The Display subfamily strips back texture for headline use, letting the letterforms' elegance carry at large sizes.
Classification
A humanist sans with calligraphic terminal details, classic capital proportions and a tapered R leg that give it warmth and personality beyond a neutral grotesque.
