Kimura Sans specimen from Plau

A humanist sans from Brazilian foundry Plau, designed by Carlos Mignot and offered in text and display subfamilies with a variable font companion.

About

Designed by Carlos Mignot at Plau and inspired by the work of Marcelo Kimura, the family spans seven weights from Thin to Black with matching italics across two optical subfamilies: Kimura Sans for text and interface use, and Kimura Sans Display for headlines and campaigns where bolder gestures are needed. A variable font version is also available, offering axes for weight, optical size and slant. The family is positioned for visual identity systems, editorial layouts, digital interfaces and brand campaigns.

Classification

Described explicitly as a humanist typeface by the foundry, with organic stroke contrast and flexibility across text and display settings typical of the humanist sans genre.
