Massima specimen from Plau

A Futura-derived geometric sans by Carlos Mignot, spanning ten weights with italics and a variable format, designed to shift from neutral text workhorse to expressive display face as weight increases.

About

Designed by Carlos Mignot and published by Plau, Massima takes Futura as its starting point but develops its own character across the weight range. Lighter cuts behave as a clean, balanced geometric suited to text, UI and signage, while heavier weights introduce diagonal terminals and more pronounced forms, culminating in the Ultra, which reads as a distinct display face. Short ascenders and descenders make it well suited to tight, compact headline setting. A Massima Text subfamily and variable format are included in the family.

Classification

Massima is explicitly modelled on Futura, a canonical geometric sans, retaining its circular forms and clean structure in lighter weights while introducing more expressive details at heavier weights, including diagonal terminals in the Ultra cut.
