Modet specimen from Plau

A humanist sans-serif from Brazilian foundry Plau, spanning ten roman weights from Thin to UltraBlack with an extensive set of OpenType alternates for tonal flexibility.

About

Designed by Matheus Fragoso, Modet covers 289 languages across ten static weights and a variable font, making it a practical choice for international editorial and identity work. Its default letterforms are warm and legible at small sizes, while alternates for the 'a', 'g', 't', 'K', 'R' and ampersand allow the typographer to shift the voice from neutral to more distinctive. The range of OpenType features includes square punctuation, serifed 'I', curved leg variants and multiple ampersand styles, giving designers meaningful control over personality.

Classification

Described explicitly as a humanist sans-serif by the foundry, with open letterforms, a double-storey 'a' and 'g' as defaults, and a range of alternates that shift character from neutral to expressive.
