Olivita
Plau · Rodrigo Saiani

A single-weight fat-face riff on ITC American Typewriter by Rodrigo Saiani, pushed to an extreme heaviness that foregrounds dense, creamy texture at large sizes.
About
Designed by Rodrigo Saiani at Plau, Olivita takes the bracketed-serif conventions of the American Typewriter genre and inflates them to the point where counters contort and letterforms press against their limits. The tall x-height is balanced by long ascenders and descenders, and the ink-heavy texture is best appreciated at display sizes in short measures. Two styles, Regular and Italic, are offered, with the italic introducing cursive variants for r and s alongside a slanted single-storey a.
Classification
Olivita takes the bracket-serif, typewriter-genre conventions of ITC American Typewriter and pushes them into extreme fat-face weight territory, giving it a display slab character with deliberate inkiness and contorted counters.
