Vinila
Plau · Flora de Carvalho

A multi-width grotesque by Flora de Carvalho with pronounced ink traps, born from album lettering for a Brazilian music release.
About
Designed by Flora de Carvalho at Plau, the family spans four widths from Compressed to Extended, each with six weights and corresponding obliques, totalling 48 styles. Prominent ink traps shift character across the range, reading as delicate in lighter cuts and forceful in heavier ones, sustaining legibility from text to display. A variable font version offering continuous control over weight, width and slant is included with the complete family licence.
Classification
Vinila is a multi-width grotesque sans-serif with obliques rather than true italics, drawing on the genre's broad utility across text and display sizes. Its ink traps and rhythmic structure place it firmly within the grotesque tradition.
