Designed by Neil Summerour with collaborator Potch Auacherdkul, Foundation addresses practical shortfalls identified in existing geometric sans serifs: insufficient condensed compression, excessive girth in normal widths, and weight ranges that fall short of contemporary demands. The family runs from Light to Ultra across standard, Narrow and Condensed widths, with obliques throughout, totalling 72 styles. Optical corrections and contemporary spacing logic govern the drawing, keeping the geometric clarity legible across brand, packaging, editorial and interface applications.
Classification
Foundation is explicitly designed within the geometric sans serif tradition, applying optical corrections to idealized geometric construction. The foundry's own description places it squarely in this genre while addressing practical limitations of historic geometric sans designs.
