Temporary Display
Primary Foundry · Sam Wagner, Jonathan Maghen

A fixed-width, variable-weight display typeface drawn from electronic highway signage and the work of artist Shannon Ebner.
About
Built on the visual language of electronic road signs and Shannon Ebner's text-based art practice, Temporary Display runs across seven weights from Thin to Black, all accessible through a single variable TTF. The fixed-width construction gives it a consistent mechanical rhythm across settings, and 274 glyphs cover lining, old style and contextual figures alongside extensive alternates. Desktop OTF files are available free for self-initiated, non-profit and cultural projects.
Classification
Described explicitly as a fixed-width display typeface inspired by electronic highway signage, placing it firmly in the display category with a monospaced construction as its defining structural feature.
