A reworking of Eric Olson's own failed Process Grotesque, pulling from Stephenson Blake grotesques to produce something more assured than its 2002 predecessor.

Released in 2005, Maple is Eric Olson's second attempt at interpreting the Stephenson Blake grotesque model after Process Grotesque was retired in 2003 for its stiff lowercase and over-faithful adherence to source material. Four weights with italic companions give the family eight styles in total. The result is a workhorse grotesque with British roots, suited to editorial and text settings where a degree of warmth is wanted.
Classification
Maple is a reworking of Process Grotesque, itself derived from Stephenson Blake grotesques, placing it firmly in the British grotesque tradition of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
