Terrane
Production Type · Emmanuel Besse

A paired sans and serif family by Emmanuel Besse, sharing identical proportions and drawing on humanist tradition and inscriptional lettering for editorial and brand systems.
About
Terrane Sans is a low-contrast humanist sans with measured apertures suited to demanding reading environments, while Terrane Serif borrows from stone-cut inscription and 1970s photo-lettering to bring architectural weight without resorting to high contrast. Both families share the same proportions, making them readily interchangeable within a single typographic system. The family has received recognition from the Club des Directeurs Artistiques and Hiiibrand Awards, and sits comfortably across academic, museum and brand contexts.
Classification
Terrane Sans is explicitly positioned within the humanist sans tradition, characterised by low contrast, organic curves and culturally grounded forms. The accompanying Terrane Serif shares identical proportions but draws on inscriptional and Petit Serif influences.
