Wigrum
Production Type · Anouk Pennel, Raphael Daudelin (Studio Feed) · 2011

A geometric sans from Montréal studio Feed, originally drawn in 2011 for a book design and refined with optical corrections that soften its rationalist structure.
About
Born as a custom typeface for Daniel Canty's novel, Wigrum takes the rational forms of 1930s geometric grotesques and tempers them with optical adjustments and idiosyncratic details in the 'W', 'g', 'R' and 'S'. The family spans seven weights from Thin to Black, each with a matching italic, covering an extensive range of Latin scripts alongside Japanese support via Type Project's TP Sky Fitfont. It suits book-length text and editorial work where geometric clarity is wanted without the coldness of pure construction.
Classification
Wigrum draws explicitly from geometric sans serifs of the 1930s while introducing optical corrections and humanist details, placing it in the geometric sans tradition with a humanist inflection.
