An all-caps display face that uses ligatures, contextual alternates and positional substitutions to pack letters together without them touching.
About
Tightle is built around an OpenType system that automates tight headline setting: each letter has multiple positional forms depending on whether it opens, closes or sits within a word, and discretionary ligatures manage the gaps so forms nestle close without overlapping. A companion subfamily, Tightle Subhead, relaxes the spacing and adds lowercase characters across four weights for supporting text. The result is a family designed specifically for headline hierarchies where extreme compression is the point.
Classification
All-caps display typeface with extreme tight spacing achieved through OpenType automation; classified as display due to its headline-only orientation and unconventional approach to letter fitting.
