Originally drawn at a single size of twelve points, Fugue was built as a considered return to the principles behind Futura and its designer Paul Renner. The family includes Regular and Regular Italic, each with two stylistic sets and double-storey alternates for 'a' and 't', alongside a Monospace and the display-oriented Head and Tails styles added in 2016. It covers Latin and Cyrillic and has been used editorially by Pitchfork.
Classification
Fugue is explicitly conceived as a return to Paul Renner, placing it firmly in the geometric sans tradition, though its alternates and stylistic sets suggest some humanist inflection.
