Adapter Georgian Text specimen from Rosetta

A Georgian script extension of Rosetta's Adapter family by Ana Sanikidze, awarded the Grand Prize for Georgian at Granshan 2024, covering Mkhedruli and Mtavruli forms across eight weights with a variable font option.

About

Designed by Ana Sanikidze, this Text subfamily adapts the Adapter family's neo-grotesque modernism to the particularities of Georgian script, with longer ascenders and descenders, carefully positioned ink traps, and generous spacing tuned for continuous reading at lower resolutions. The family includes the full bicameral Georgian character set, with Mkhedruli lowercase and the Mtavruli capitals added to Unicode in 2018. A single variable font spanning weight, slant, and italic axes covers the entire range, and coverage extends to the Kartvelian languages Laz, Mingrelian, and Svan.

Classification

A neo-grotesque sans serif designed specifically for the Georgian script, adapting the modernist aesthetic of the Adapter family with script-specific proportions, ink traps, and bicameral Georgian character sets.
