Designed by Khajag Apelian and released in 2012, Arek was conceived for Armenian and Latin schoolbooks, with open proportions and restrained letterforms that remain readable at small sizes. Eight styles across four weights with matching italics cover the full range of editorial typesetting, supported by a thorough OpenType feature set including ligatures, fractions, multiple numeral styles and contextual alternates. The family won an ATypI Letter.2 award in 2011 and was named among Typographica's best typefaces of 2013.
