A low-contrast grotesque by Christian Gruber, developed from nineteenth-century references including Gothic No.2 into a five-weight family with italics.

About

Started in 2021 and released in 2023, the family takes Gothic No.2 and related nineteenth-century grotesques as its starting point, retaining period details such as the barless G whilst arriving at a contemporary and broadly applicable result. Five weights run from 400 to 800, each with a matching italic, giving ten cuts in total across 658 glyphs. Desktop and web licences are available, with individual weight pairs or bundled packages.

Classification

Rooted in nineteenth-century grotesques, particularly Gothic No.2, with low contrast and contemporary detailing. The retention of characteristic period features such as the barless G places it firmly in the grotesque tradition.
