Stray
Scifipoetry · Christian Gruber · 2023

A single-weight display typeface by Christian Gruber, grown out of pen plotter experiments into a free release with broad Latin Extended coverage.
About
Originally drawn as an exploration of pen plotter output, Stray evolved into a full display typeface with 590 glyphs covering Latin Extended, including extensive diacritics, fractions, superscripts and mathematical symbols. Only a Light cut exists, and the foundry has made it permanently free to download and use, though future extensions may not carry the same terms. The plotter origins give it a hand-drawn, slightly mechanical character suited to experimental editorial and poster work.
Classification
Described explicitly as a display typeface by the foundry; its origins in pen plotter experimentation suggest an idiosyncratic, drawn quality distinct from conventional type categories.
