About
Originally begun as a student project at the Zurich University of the Arts in 2007, Cast was released as a full family in 2011 with six upright weights from Light to Black, each with matching italics added in 2018. Open apertures, manually kerned spacing and 481 glyphs per style covering Latin Extended-A make it a considered choice for text, branding and wayfinding. Its design concept directly addresses the tension between small-text legibility and display performance, offering considered answers through its curve work and proportions.
Classification
Cast is a sans-serif with open apertures, balanced proportions and a slightly technical character, placing it in the humanist sans tradition with attention to legibility at small sizes and display use alike.
