Kōsetsu specimen from Signal

An all-caps modular display typeface by Archie Heaslip, built entirely from a single isosceles right triangle and available in four structurally derived styles.

About

Constructed from a single isosceles right triangle on a grid, the letterforms reference both broad-nibbed calligraphy and 8-bit video game aesthetics. Letters vary in height to create a syncopated rhythm, with alternates giving the user control over that cadence. The four styles — Solid, Outline, Incised and Grid — each emerge directly from the underlying grid structure, and the typeface originated as a bespoke design for a checkers-style board game set in mountainous terrain.

Classification

An all-caps modular typeface constructed entirely from a single isosceles right triangle on a grid, placing it firmly in the display category with a geometric-modular subcategory.
