Designed by Mark Niemeijer and released in February 2024, Reformat A is the more systematic of two sub-families that together make up the Reformat family. It prioritises efficiency and rational traits with a consistent rhythm, distinguishing itself from its sibling Reformat B, which favours organic curves and distinctive details. The family offers seven fonts and is positioned as a practical workhorse with considered letterforms rather than a direct historical revival.
Classification
SM classify Reformat A as Neo-Grotesk; it draws on 19th century grotesques but applies a systematic, rational approach with consistent rhythm, placing it firmly in the neo-grotesque tradition.
