On a mission to create the world's biggest index of typefaces from the world's best type foundries

Bureau Sans specimen from Smuss Type Kiosk

A sans-serif designed on the same skeleton as Bureau Serif, available in three spacing variants from proportional to fully monospaced, across six weights with matching italics and a variable file.

About

Bureau Sans and Bureau Serif share a common skeleton, each borrowing constraints from the other so that the distinction between them becomes a deliberate choice rather than a default. The sans comes in Standard, SemiMono and Mono variants, six weights from Light to Bold, matching italics and a variable file, making it equally viable for continuous text, UI work and code environments. The two families are sold together and were built to be used in combination.

Classification

Bureau Sans is a proportional sans-serif with shared skeletal DNA with Bureau Serif, suggesting humanist construction; the three spacing styles (Standard, SemiMono, Mono) and the serif companion indicate a text-oriented, considered design rather than a pure geometric or grotesque approach.
