Gestura
Sociotype · Sociotype · 2021

A modern old style serif superfamily that mixes calligraphic curves with wedge-like terminals across three optical sizes for text, headline and display.
About
A 42-style superfamily across three optical sizes, Gestura is rooted in 16th century old style models such as Robert Granjon's Gros Cicero, with reference to Matthew Carter's Galliard and Monotype Plantin. The design balances graceful calligraphic curves with hard-edged wedge terminals, ornate strokes meeting minimalist reductions of traditional serif forms. Six stylistic sets shift the typographic voice between conservative and expressive, with sets four to six tuned for italic only. Text is built for long-form reading, while Headline and Display exaggerate Gestura's character as scale increases.
