Designed by Arve Båtevik, Skandia Narrow compresses the proportions of Skandia while preserving its balanced contrast, measured tone and geometric structure. The result is a denser text image with a firmer vertical rhythm, suited to editorial systems, signage and interfaces where space is constrained but the typeface still needs to feel open and stable. It forms part of a broader family that includes the standard Skandia, a condensed cut and a mono variant.
Classification
Rooted in a rediscovered Scandinavian neo-grotesque originally designed for the Norwegian National Railway, Skandia Narrow retains the geometric structure and measured contrast of its wider counterpart in a condensed width.
