MegaMegaTypeType

The world's biggest index of the world's best typefaces

sans-serifgeometric sansitalic
Kreol Standard specimen from Studio Rene Bieder

A geometric sans with seven weights and matching italics, sitting within a three-subfamily system that spans display, standard and text optical roles.

About

Kreol Standard occupies the middle register of the Kreol family, positioned between the display and text cuts. Fourteen styles run from Thin to ExtraBold with italics throughout, and a generous set of OpenType features includes small capitals, oldstyle figures, case-sensitive forms and multiple alternates for characters such as 'a', 'g', 'J', 'Q' and 'R'. The alternate glyph set gives designers control over tone, shifting the face between a strict geometric and a slightly warmer register.

Classification

The upright, clean construction and range of weights from Thin to ExtraBold with alternates for single-storey 'a' and 'g' point to a geometric sans tradition with some humanist detailing.
