Nika specimen from Superior Type

A sans-serif with controlled stroke modulation by Rostislav Vaněk, adding depth and tension without drifting into ornament.

About

Nika introduces deliberate shading and contrast into a sans-serif framework, departing from the flat uniformity typical of the genre. Sixteen static styles run from ExtraLight to Black with matching italics, and a variable font spans the weight axis across 308 languages within the Latin script. Developed with collaboration from Matyáš Machat and Petr Kučera, it suits branding and editorial contexts where a geometric-feeling sans risks feeling too cold.

Classification

Nika is a sans-serif with deliberate stroke modulation and contrast, departing from strict grotesque uniformity; the organic tension in its strokes places it closest to the humanist sans tradition.
