Nika Expanded
Superior Type · Rostislav Vaněk

An expanded sans-serif with deliberate stroke modulation that introduces depth and tension without veering into ornament.
About
Designed by Rostislav Vaněk in collaboration with Matyáš Machat and Petr Kučera, Nika Expanded applies contrast and modulation within strokes to a broadly expanded sans-serif structure, creating a sense of movement uncommon in the genre. Sixteen static styles run from ExtraLight to Black with matching italics, and a variable font is included. OpenType features cover oldstyle figures, fractions, discretionary ligatures and alternate single- and double-storey letterforms.
Classification
A sans-serif with stroke modulation and contrast rather than strict uniformity, placing it closer to a humanist or modulated grotesque; the expanded width variant gives it a distinctive display character.
