Finlay specimen from Supertype

A warm, upright script by Martin Wenzel that blends humanist sans-serif construction with script letterforms across seven weights.

About

Originally developed for a children's TV programme pitch in Germany, Finlay combines script letterforms with humanist sans-serif characteristics and upright italic forms to produce a distinctly friendly register. Seven weights run from Light to Black, giving the family range across display and branding contexts where approachability matters. The 947-glyph set covers 135 languages, making it a broadly deployable choice for warm, informal communication.

Classification

Finlay is described by the foundry as most obviously a script font, but one that blends humanist sans-serif and upright italic letterforms, making it an upright script with strong sans influence rather than a flowing cursive.
