Realist
Supertype · Martin Wenzel · 2011

A sans-serif by Martin Wenzel that bridges humanist warmth and grotesque sturdiness across eight weights with matching italics, selected by Typographica as a favourite typeface in 2011.
About
Designed by Martin Wenzel, Realist combines the open, organic construction of humanist letterforms with the symmetry and vertical emphasis of the grotesque tradition. The result is a workhorse of 16 styles, spanning Thin to Black with italics throughout, and extending into Narrow and Wide subfamilies for added range. Suited to corporate identity, editorial and product design, it uses OpenType stylistic sets to switch between letterform variants that meaningfully shift its overall character.
Classification
Realist deliberately merges humanist letterform construction with grotesque characteristics, blending the warmth of humanist sans-serifs with the sturdiness and neoclassicist symmetry of grotesques.
