Brik specimen from The Designers Foundry

A blunt geometric display family from BurnType with exaggerated ink traps, hard angles and chunky corners across five optical sizes and a condensed sub-family.

About

Designed by Michael Bagnardi of BurnType in Brooklyn and distributed via The Designers Foundry, Brik is built on a brick-like construction that favours hard angles and exaggerated ink traps over conventional refinement. Twenty static styles span five optical sizes from Regular to 4XL in both upright and oblique, with a matching condensed set and a variable font covering weight, slant and width axes. Revisited in 2020 and 2021, the family gained expanded glyph support, redrawn letters and new kerning, giving it more utility at text sizes than its display origins suggest.

Classification

Brik is a display sans built around a deliberately brick-like geometric construction with hard angles, chunky corners and exaggerated ink traps, placing it firmly in the display category with a geometric, industrial character.
