slabslab serif
Fran specimen from The Designers Foundry

A six-weight Egyptian slab serif by Max Saille, with unbracketed serifs and contrast that builds from delicate in the lighter cuts to chunky and assertive at the heavier end.

About

Designed by Dutch-born, New York-based Max Saille, the family spans Thin to Ultra across six weights, with the lighter styles suited to continuous text and the heavier cuts intended for display use. The unbracketed serifs become progressively chunkier as weight increases, giving the family a coherent but varied character across settings. OpenType features include oldstyle and lining numerals, case-sensitive forms, contextual alternates and an alternate set of accented uppercase characters for tighter titling.

Classification

Fran is a slab serif with unbracketed serifs and subtle stroke contrast that intensifies across the weight range, fitting the Egyptian slab tradition.
