sans-serifgeometric sans
Gatch specimen from The Designers Foundry

A geometric sans by David Einwaller that pairs Futura-derived principles with a uni-width system and variable uppercase width axes across nine weights.

About

Designed between 2017 and 2023, Gatch draws on Futura and Neuzeit Grotesk while introducing deliberate tension between circular and narrow glyph proportions, taking cues from Joseph Churchward's Crossbred. Its uni-width system keeps letter spacing consistent across the weight range, making it practical for UI and display work where layout stability matters. A variable font adds three axes controlling the width of straights, rounds and diagonals in uppercase letters independently, alongside a broad set of stylistic alternates.

Classification

A geometric sans-serif in the tradition of Futura and Neuzeit Grotesk, distinguished by tension between full-round and narrow glyph proportions and a uni-width system across nine weights.
