displaydisplay serif
Goliagolia specimen from The Designers Foundry

An Italian-designed display face that mixes baroque letter forms with deliberately imperfect hand-drawn geometry, producing an unusually spirited contrast between rough construction and sharp curves.

About

Designed by Alex Valentina, Goliagolia blends baroque calligraphic traits with geometrically imperfect strokes, each letter carrying its own distinct details while remaining coherent within the family. Two styles are offered: Regular and Sharp, the latter pushing the modern display curves further. The typeface has attracted attention in editorial and identity contexts where an eccentric, high-contrast serif voice is needed, earning a description from AIGA Design as 'a spaceship collided with a baroque cathedral'.

Classification

A display typeface blending baroque letter forms with geometric, hand-drawn imperfection. The contrast between irregular stroke construction and sharp modern curves places it firmly in the display category with a decorative serif subcategory.
