Grandmaster specimen from The Designers Foundry

A very condensed titling typeface by Lucas Descroix, drawn from 20th-century Antique Press sources and named in tribute to Grandmaster Flash.

About

Designed by French type designer Lucas Descroix, Grandmaster takes inspiration from 20th-century Antique Press fonts, using an extremely vertical structure and highly regular counter-shapes to create a near-kinetic quality on the page. Five weights from Thin to Black each come with matching italics, and the family is also available as a variable font spanning the full weight range. OpenType features include oldstyle numerals, discretionary ligatures, alternate lowercase a and g forms, and hairline punctuation.

Classification

Extremely condensed vertical structure with near-kinetic rhythm, inspired by 20th-century Antique Press fonts and designed primarily for titling and editorial use rather than continuous text.
