serifhybrid serifitalic
Onica specimen from The Designers Foundry

A calligraphic serif by Sanghyun Park that fuses asymmetrical slab serifs, sharp terminals and imperfect curves into a two-weight family.

About

Designed by Seoul-based Sanghyun Park, Onica is described as a chimera built on a calligraphic structural base, combining thick sharp terminals, asymmetrical slab serifs and intentionally imperfect curves. The contrast between these elements gives it a striking quality in display settings whilst retaining rhythm and texture at body sizes. The family is currently limited to Regular and Regular Italic, with 673 glyphs covering an extensive range of Latin-script languages.
