Wulkan Display
The Designers Foundry · Jan Estrada-Osmycki · 2019

A high-contrast display serif by Jan Estrada-Osmycki, drawing on old-style types and the work of Lubalin and Carnase for use at large sizes.
About
Designed between 2015 and 2019, it pairs thin hairlines and sharp, exaggerated strokes with ball terminals for a lively, vibrant character suited to headlines and branding. Slightly compressed proportions with short ascenders and descenders allow tight-setting for strong visual impact. Twelve styles span six weights from Light to Black with matching italics, plus three stylistic sets including slanted lowercase and alternate capitals.
Classification
A modern high-contrast serif with old-style influences, characterised by thin hairlines, sharp exaggerated elements and ball terminals. Its compressed proportions and tight-setting capability place it firmly in the display serif tradition.
