Yalla
The Designers Foundry · Mateusz Machalski

A single-weight geometric display face by Mateusz Machalski, shaped by the strong Arabic headline typography and calligraphic contrasts encountered in Cairo.
About
Designed after Machalski's trip to Cairo, Yalla draws on the geometric forms and calligraphic details characteristic of Arabic headline type, translating those contrasts into a Latin display face. With only a Bold weight and 353 glyphs, it is a deliberately narrow tool suited to headlines, posters and branding where a strong, singular voice is needed. Language support spans a broad range of Latin-based scripts including European, African and Southeast Asian languages.
Classification
A single-weight display typeface drawing on geometric Arabic headline letterforms, with strong angular geometry offset by calligraphic details; fits the display category given its expressive, single-style nature.
