A digital revival of Wim Crouwel's 1972 dot-matrix alphabet for the Museum Fodor magazine, built on strict grid logic and a monospaced framework.
About
Drawn from Crouwel's original letterforms for the Museum Fodor, Amsterdam, where cost constraints led him to design type for an electric typewriter, producing an inherently monospaced rhythm. The letterforms were constructed from a dot matrix title system overlaid on a pink-and-orange page grid, giving each character its mechanical, digital-effect character. Part of The Foundry's Crouwel Collection, developed in direct collaboration with Crouwel from 1996.
Classification
Derived from Crouwel's radical grid-based alphabet designed for the Museum Fodor magazine, constructed from a dot matrix title system to produce digital-effect letterforms. The monospaced, constructivist geometry places it firmly in the display category.
