On a mission to create the world's biggest index of typefaces from the world's best type foundries

sans-serifneo-grotesqueitalic
Foundry Context specimen from The Foundry Types

A neo-grotesque sans with very round, minimal-contrast letterforms designed to sit comfortably across branding, print and screen applications.

About

Drawing on 19th-century sans serif precedents, Foundry Context keeps stroke contrast low and letterforms deliberately unrefined, avoiding both humanistic script influence and over-conscious detail. Its large x-height, compact spacing and even terminal distribution across the weight range make it a practical choice for legibility-critical work. The six-style family runs from Regular to Extra Bold with a single italic, and includes small caps, ligatures, tabular and proportional figures.

Classification

The foundry explicitly describes it as neo-grotesque in style, with minimal stroke contrast, very round pure letterforms, and no humanistic script influence, placing it firmly in the neo-grotesque tradition.
