Foundry Dit specimen from The Foundry Types

A dot-matrix display face built on a 5x9 lozenge grid, designed to layer with its companion Foundry Dat for typographic pattern-making.

About

Each letterform sits on a strict oblong dot-matrix grid of soft, padded lozenge shapes, giving the face a typewriter quality when set as running text. The family pairs with Foundry Dat, which adds a matching grid background so the two can be superimposed precisely to build colour schemes and compositional patterns. Four weights run from Light to Bold, each including extension dashes to continue the grid horizontally and vertically.

Classification

Built on a 5x9 dot matrix grid using oblong lozenge shapes, Foundry Dit is a display typeface with a typewriter and dot-matrix character that makes it unsuitable for running text but distinctive as a graphic system.
